Working with the unconscious mind
My name is Deirdre Brady and I have a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also have an advanced diploma in Hypno-psychotherapy and Psych-Analysis and I am currently a member of The European Association of Professional Hypnotherapists (EAPH). I am also a qualified Yoga, Meditation and Relaxation Therapist specialising in a practice called Yoga Nidra which is used around the world for stress and trauma related issues like PTSD.
My journey began when I trained as a Yoga and Meditation Teacher in 2013 and through the practice of Meditation and Yoga Nidra I became fascinated with the deeper aspects of the unconscious mind and how it affects everything in our lives. The most effective way to change behaviour for the better is to work with your unconscious mind.
According to Freud (1915), the unconscious mind is the primary source of human behaviour. Like the analogy of an iceberg, the conscious mind is the tip of the iceberg seen above the water while the most important part of the mind is the part you cannot see, the part that lies beneath the surface and goes very deep.
Everything that has ever happened to us in our lives is stored in the unconscious which influences our feelings, motives and decisions in the present. This part of ourselves is where we hold a lot of core beliefs and experiences that shape our thinking and our lives. This cause and effect can be transformed and when we are ready to make that commitment to ourselves to bring about the change we just need a guiding hand to help us on our way. That is where I come in to help you. My philosophy is to Love Life because life is a journey rich with our own unique human experiences and real transformation begins by knowing our deeper selves and wanting to make that positive change in our lives.
